Addendum to University of Incheon and CSU
San Bernardino MOU Agreement
"Computer Science Masters Dual-Degree Program"
Party A: Korean Partner University: University of Incheon (UI)
Party B: United States Partner University: California State University,
San Bernardino (CSUSB)
I. Definition of "Computer Science Masters Dual-Degree Program"
The above-mentioned-parties have agreed upon the following definition of the
Computer Science Masters Dual-Degree Program under the essential prerequisite
of mutual credit acceptance and transfer.
1. The minimum length of study required to complete the program is two semesters of study at Party A plus three quarters of study at Party B. For students exchanged from Party A to Party B, this will be equivalent to at least 9 semester hours in the credit system of Party A and 33 quarter hours in the credit system of Party B. For students exchanged from Party B to Party A, this will be equivalent to at least 18 semester hours in the credit system of Party A and 28 quarter hours in the credit system of Party B. Thesis or project units are not part of these numbers.
2. Students completing all requirements of the program will be granted master's degrees from both the UI and CSUSB.
3. All Computer Science Masters Dual-Degree Program academic decisions are to be made solely between the Parties.
4. Attached to this document is a more detailed presentation of the program content. The attachment may be modified with the agreement of both Partners.
II. Major Responsibilities of both Parties:
1. Parties shall recruit students on the home campus annually to participate in the "Computer Science Masters Dual-Degree Program".
2. Parties shall work with students to demonstrate language proficiency tests meeting the criteria for the partner campus and select students for the program. Party B shall provide necessary courses for students to achieve English proficiency when necessary and to complete their visiting portion of study in a timely and convenient manner to insure that students will complete the proposed degree program. Party B shall determine the student's academic enrollment based upon the student's English Proficiency.
3. Parties shall articulate the curriculum with each other and design a Master's degree education program, and provide students with relevant curricula during their study in the Partner country;
4. Parties shall provide Partner with transcripts of students' academic work at the completion of the period of study at the Partner campus, and shall have a completion plan of courses, textbooks and teaching curriculum for the proposed degrees sought by students.
5. Parties shall provide necessary courses for students to complete their beginning and ending terms in a timely and convenient manner to insure that students will complete the proposed degree program.
6. Parties shall not make substantial changes in any or all of the courses without prior approval of the other Partner.
7. Parties shall not revise and/or exempt any or all of the courses without prior approval of the other Partner.
8. Each Partner shall collect the fees and other related costs from students for the program registration, tests and tuition when students are attending their campus.
9. Parties shall recruit and examine students based on the attached agreement.
10. Students must secure a visa to study at the partner campus. Party B's International Office shall work with Party A to provide the US Embassy in Korea all documentation necessary and will assist Party A students in preparation of their documentation for the visa interview process. Party A's Center for International Affairs shall issue a letter of Certificate of Admission to Party B students to provide the Korean Embassy in U.S.A for visa application.
11. Parties shall assist students with visas with support according to the practices of the home campus.
12. Party B shall issue letters of admission and no other visa form other than DS-2019 forms to qualified students. Party B shall collect and keep copies of the students' passports/visas during their study in the United States.
13. Each Party shall grant each student a Diploma and Master's degree when course work is satisfactorily completed at the home campus.
14. Parties may send teaching staff to the Partner institution to observe classes and exchange ideas with professors of Partner institution.
15. Partners shall host the representatives of other Party for business/campus visit to a home campus?All the expenses will be paid by the visiting Party.)
III. Closing:
1. In the implementation of Computer Science Masters Dual-Degree Program, if any issues that are not stated here arise, two Parties shall solve them through mutual understanding and discussion.
2. This agreement is written in both Korean and English, with each language having the same legal force. Two copies of the document shall be made in each language (for a total of four copies). Each party shall hold one copy in Korean and English.
3. This agreement will become effective when signed by the representatives of two Parties and be valid for six years and renewable unless terminated earlier by at least one party. To terminate the agreement, a Party must notify the other Party, in writing, 60 days prior to termination.
